For the Love of a Child

A historic event took place last year in Calgary, Canada. Thought leaders, luminaries, business owners, entrepreneurs, politicians and hundreds of individuals from all walks of life and from countries around the world converged upon this place.

The theme of the event was engagement but what really inspired the event was love - the love of a child.

The name of the event was, of course, Engage Today which was organised by Greg Habstritt, the Founder and President of Simple Wealth. It spanned four days from the 28th September until the 1st October 2009 but the seeds for this event were sown in 2008 - 5th April to be precise.

You see this is the day that Greg Habstritt's son Cooper was born.

Perhaps you're a parent as well and can identify with the emotions that Greg experienced on that day. He has said that he felt a deep sense of responsibility for this infant to whom he was so profoundly connected. He wanted to bring his son up in a world that gave him "hope and optimism and a place where he could actually realise his potential".

And so while, Greg didn't immediately connect this aspiration with Engage Today this event was certainly an excellent fit. Naturally, Cooper is presently far too young to comprehend what his father achieved through this extraordinary conference but when he does become of age I'm certain he'll be absolutely blown away by it all.

There were 20+ speakers for Engage Today including billionaire Sir Richard Branson; the former President of South Africa, President F.W. deKlerk; His Holiness, The XIV Dalai Lama; Dr Stephen R. Covey, author of the international bestseller "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". So, as you can imagine, to say that this event was not easy to organise is an understatement.

In fact, when Greg initially shared his concept for this event people literally laughed out loud. He was told that...

~ It was too ambitious
~ He would never get the line-up of speakers
~ People wouldn't attend

And so on.

Fortunately, Greg didn't listen to the naysayers. He listened instead to his heart and rallied his entrepreneurial spirit. And, as a consequence, created something that many have described as "the event of the decade".

However, make no mistake about it. This was an ambitious undertaking and one that someone with a less powerful motivation would not have been able to accomplish.

And, as for the naysayers they probably meant well but they were considering their own limiting beliefs. Also, although I'm sure they were not consciously thinking along these lines, but if Greg was able to pull off such an ambitious event then he would significantly push the boundaries of what was possible. The bar would have been raised.

About 500 people attended the live event and but now many hundreds more can benefit from the Engage Today experience because it has been converted into a superb home study course.

Each of the live presentations was professionally filmed and edited. Greg hired a writer to attend the event for the sole purpose of listening to the presentations and creating a workbook to accompany each one so you can get more out of each session. You can opt to get a physical copy of the program (DVDs, CDs, workbooks and transcripts) or you can choose to just get a downloadable version. If you opt for the physical version - a collector's item - you'll also get the digital version so you can have immediate access to the materials.
