Bill Bartmann: The Mindset of a Billionaire - Part 5 of 5

This is the fifth and final part of this mini-series examining some of the fundamental characteristics of a billionaire as identified by Bill Bartmann.

The fifth characteristic of billionaires relates to PERSISTENCE. Individuals with billionaire thinking:

Never Give Up

Just as sure as you need to breather to live you are going to be face with obstacles. Expect them, embrace them and learn how to overcome them.

"If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere."
Frank A. Clark

Sometimes the perceived obstacle is just an illusion. It's what you see when you take your eye off our goal. It exists only in your mind and once overcome your limiting and negative beliefs you will be able to overcome any obstacle in your path.

However, realise that this is an on-going process. With practice it will get easier but it is not something that will ever completely go away. The reason why many people feel stuck is that they resist the feelings they experience when confronted with obstacles. Later I'll explain how to deal with this.

Some people liken life to school. In school there are lessons and tests. We may not like them but we expect them.

The tests exist to help us assess whether or not we've learnt a particular lesson or skill. They help to assess whether or not we are ready to move on to the next level.

We often fear tests and worry about the chance that we might 'fail' instead of seeing tests as an opportunities for us to shine. And what if we do 'fail' - it's just a test. We can simply take it again.

Others consider our spirit self is like a baby wanting to experience different things. It has boundless curiosity and our physical existence is the only way in which our spirit gets to experience life.

Some of the things which we experience we classify as good and others, such as the obstacles we face, we classify as bad. However, in reality, everything just is.

When we fear obstacles we create resistance in ourselves which can lead to feelings of frustration, anger and generally feeling stuck. A consequence of this is that we can then go on to experience the same obstacle time and time again - like GroundHog Day.

The secret is to embrace the obstacles presented to you. Consider the worse case scenario of what you fear. Allow yourself to feel what that experience would be like without dwelling on it over duly. Imagine you have to travel through a dangerous alley late at night you're not going to hang around, are you? As Winston Churchill said:

"If you're going through hell, keep going."

Your sub-conscious mind cannot differentiate between what is real and what is imagined. So enter that alley and get out. Allow yourself to feel what it would be like to have your nightmare scenario come true and then let it go. Focus on what you do want and you'll find that your obstacles will not seem as daunting and you will find ways to overcome them or you may find that what you thought might have been an obstacle really was just a great opportunity in disguise.

So when faced with obstacles, have the courage and determination to persevere and again as Winston Churchill said:

"Never, never, never, never give up."
