Happy New Year! Have you made your New Year Resolutions as yet? I know that some people have already decided that making New Year Resolutions is a complete waste of time as people rarely succeed in making their resolutions a reality.

Such individuals don't fail at the first hurdle. Such individuals never even bothered to put on their trainers. They never got into the race.

Hopefully you're not one of those individuals.

Hopefully, you'll have the courage to go after your goals and dreams.

You may say to yourself that you've set numerous goals that you haven't been able to achieve them and that there's just no point to business of setting New Year's Resolutions. The thing is that if you don't set goals for this year, then this year and probably this decade will be just like other years and other decades past where you haven't quite lived up to your expectations. At least, I'm hoping that up till now you've been striving towards your expectations and not someone else's.

If the latter is the case, and you've not been successful in achieving the goals you've set, then this would certainly go a long way towards explaining your lack of success. And if this is the case and you are managing to achieve the goals you set, it's highly likely that you are still feeling dissatisfied.

In this case you need to set your own goals and live your life - not someone else's. And this can be a hard decision to make because it may result in you alienating some individuals. It may mean that you'll have to make some sacrifices but remember that you'll be sacrificing something of lesser value to attain something of greater value.

Some of you may still be reluctant to set new goals and resolutions for this year because you're afraid that you'll fail again. And so what if you do? It's better to try and fail then not to try at all.

So I urge you not to give up on your goals and dreams. If you've set goals in the past and they haven't come to fruition it's not because they were impossible to achieve. And if you're thinking that it's no use in even trying because what you want is completely out of your reach remember this:

"Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing."
Muhammad Ali

Remember too that every day you hold onto the belief that what you truly desire in your heart is impossible is another day that you will self-sabotage your efforts to be successful in life. You may achieve success in other areas but deep inside that success, that victory will feel hollow because it's not want you ultimately wanted to achieve.

It's what you settled for.

And you were not put on this earth to settle for anything.

So I urge you to write down your New Year Resolutions and your goals for this year and beyond. Yes write them down because writing is an invaluable part of the goal achievement process. When you write down your goals you form an agreement with yourself that you will pursue your goals.

Cast aside the thoughts that you didn't succeed in the past for as Anthony Robbins said:

"If you're going to live in the past there is no future."

And then go after your goals with every fibre of your being and you'll astound yourself at just what you can accomplish because...

...nothing is impossible.
