Achieving Success - Is Your Little Voice Empowering or Disempowering You?

In today's Evening Standard there was an article about the tennis player Justine Henin titled "Henin's glad she listened to her 'little voice' again".

I believe that we all have a 'little voice' inside. Sometimes that voice can be negative and debilitating and at other times that voice can be positive and empowering. So our ability to control that "little voice" is a key factor in whether or not we're successful in life.

When Justine Henin retired in 2008 it was because she was listening to her 'little voice'. Henin is currently playing in the Australian Open in Melbourne. It's her first Grand Slam since returning to the tennis circuit in September 2009. Her decision to return to competitive tennis was inspired by fellow Belgian Kim Clijsters who stormed back onto the scene to win the 2009 US Open just one month after coming out of retirement.

Henin said that when she lost against Maria Sharapova at the 2008 Australian Open her heart just wasn't into it anymore.

"My little voice was saying to me I should go away because I needed something else at that time.

"Now that little voice is very positive and I can dream of being in the final of this Grand Slam."

It was clearly a wise decision. You cannot be world-class at anything if your heart is not fully into it.

So the question is what is your little voice saying to you? Is it empowering or disempowering you.

Unfortunately, for many people the answer is the latter. You just have to listen to them for a few minutes to know that. And, in many cases, you don't even have to listen to what they have to say because there are many outward clues that reveal what your little voice is saying.

Fortunately, if your little voice is disempowering you there are many techniques and strategies that you can use to overcome this negativity.

And one person who has mastered the control of the "Little Voice" is Blair Singer. He's the author of "Little Voice Mastery: How to Win the War Between Your Ears in 30 Seconds or Less - And Have an Extraordinary Life!"

In fact, over the past 20 years, he has uncovered 21 time-tested tips to overcome the incapacitating chatter of the "Little Voice."
