Intuition: Learning the Importance of Listening to Your Intuition the Hard Way

"Intuition is the clear conception of the whole at once."
Johann Kaspar Lavater

It was like stepping onto a set of an action film or music video except this was real. As rapper Zuby (Nzube Udezue) stepped off the train at Bornemouth he saw policeman with their guns drawn and those guns were aimed directly at him.

Moments later he was facedown and spread-eagled on the platform. He said:

"I've never been so terrified in my life."

Before stepping off the train he had been happily listening to his iPod. He was returning from a trip to Southampton where he had been selling his CDs and T-shirts bearing the slogan - "I'm Down with Zuby. Are You?"

Zuby was wearing one of his own black T-shirts and the police had been tipped off by a plain-clothes officer on the train that a man was on board the train who had had been threatening people with an imitation firearm. The Police were told that he was wearing a dark T-shirt with orange writing on it.

So when Zuby stepped off the train he was ordered to the ground at gunpoint, handcuffed and hustled into a toilet cubicle where he was searched for a gun before he was taken to the police station. Zuby's emotions were in turmoil:

"I was shocked, confused, scared and embarrassed all at the same time."

Finally, the Police realised that they had the wrong man.

Now there are many lessons in this story but I'm going to stick to my point about the importance of following your intuition.

You see, afterwards Zuby was able to joke:

"And to think I was going to wear a blue T-shirt."
