Follow-Up to the Create Your Own Reality Teleseminar: Part 1/2

I recently interviewed Sharyn Abbott, author of "Create Your Own Reality: The Ancient Wisdom".

Two of the questions received for this teleseminar were as follows:

~ What do you do when your dream and vision seems light years away because of circumstances and lack?

~ What do you do when you feel like giving up?

Sharyn addressed these and other questions that were submitted at the end of the interview, but these questions are so poignant that I thought I'd review them again here.

Let's look at the first bit of the first question. If your dream and vision seem light years away it means that you are setting challenging goals - MEGA goals and that is not necessarily a bad thing.

However, you have to break your goals into smaller steps that you can easily measure so that you can chart your progress. Consider an athlete training for the Olympics. That athlete has to train for four long years before they have a chance to pit their skills against other athletes on the Olympic stage. And there is a chance that they may not even qualify for the Olympics or they may become ill or injured and not able to compete.

While it's important for them to keep the big goal in their sights they have to meticulously plan smaller goals and compete in other less illustrious but yet critical competitions before getting their chance to compete at Olympic level. They have to consistent in executing their training even at times when they may seem not to make progress.

Allow me to explain that last point in greater detail. Sometimes you can be doing the right things but not noticing any vast improvement. This can be frustrating. But if you know you are doing the right things then you just have to keep at it and remain confident that the breakthrough will come.

So it's important to ensure that you get expert advice so that you know you are indeed doing the right things and then work at your goal consistently. If you do this you will be rewarded.

However, when we set certain goals, even if we working diligently to bring them to fruition, we often do not know how long they will take to manifest. Setting a goal is not like planting a seed. For instance we know how long a carrot seed will take to germinate, grow and reach maturity. But large, challenging goals are often unknown quantities in terms of how long they may take to accomplish.

There are exceptions to this. Sometimes we can set a 'hard' deadline for accomplishing a particular goal and then we pull the stops out to make it happen within the timeframe we have specified. We build our dream team and harness all available resources and then some to help us accomplish the critical steps in our goal plan.

And, while we actively seek out people and or resources, we may that the right people and resources are attracted to us. When we are in this mode of operation we have no time for objections or for people without a 'can do' attitude. Our eyes are firmly fixed on the goal.

Now let's look at the second part of the question - "…because of circumstances and lack?". We have to remember that we create our circumstances and in reality there is no "lack". We live in an abundant world. If we change our perception we can see where there is abundance and then we can figure out how to tap into that abundance. If we are seeing and or experiencing "lack" it is because we're focusing on the wrong things.

As Anthony Robbins said:

"Failure to attain goals is never about a lack of resources; it's about a lack of resourcefulness."

How often have you heard someone say that they've tried everything but you know that's not the case? Every problem has a solution. Just because we have not found the solution doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Take stock of the resources you do have. While you may lack resources in one area you will undoubtedly have an abundance in another area. You have to learn how to creatively use these resources compensate for the resources which you may lack and to achieve your goal.

Napoleon Bonaparte said:

"Circumstances - what are circumstances? I make circumstances."

Whatever circumstances we are currently faced with we have created and so if we don't like our current circumstances we simply need to create new circumstances. So, in the words of Sharyn Abbott:

"Create Your Own Reality."

In Part 2 I'll share my thoughts on "What do you do when you feel like giving up?"
