Are You Ready to Make the Ultimate Sacrifice to Achieve Your Goals?

Yesterday I saw three baby turtles on the pavement. Baby turtles are so small they can fit into the palm of your hand. If these turtles had travelled from the beach, though for me the journey would have taken mere seconds, for these tiny creatures this journey must have felt like a marathon.

And it was all for nothing. Their bodies lay dry and lifeless by the roadside. Unwittingly, they had travelled in the opposite direction of their goal and paid the ultimate sacrifice for their error. The turtles had probably been confused by the bright lights and loud sounds coming from the road. It had lured them from their true purpose.

Sadly, many of us behave like these unfortunate turtles. The thing is that their mere presence on this earth was in itself a miracle. Their mother would have survived against extreme odds and made an exhausting trip to the beach to lay her precious eggs, significantly increasing her vulnerability as she did so. For the eggs to remain undetected during their incubation period was also another triumph.

You too are a miracle of creation and you are unique. There will never be another like you. You have a unique contribution to make to this world. You too are born with a purpose and your mission in life is to discover your purpose and get on with the business of living it out. The sooner you are able to accomplish this, the sooner you will find yourself in flow. This doesn't mean that you won't be faced with challenges. Challenges are necessary for your growth just like a muscle grows stronger when worked against a resistance. When you are in flow you will no longer resist the obstacles that come your way. You will see that they are just an illusion. You will no longer feel as though you are fighting an uphill battle. Your life will feel more joyous.

However, while you are on your journey you will often be distracted and pulled off course. This is natural. It is said that a plane travelling from London to Barbados is off-course 99% of the time. Course corrections have to be continually applied if the plane is to reach its destination. It is your ability to maintain your focus, expand your awareness and apply your necessary course corrections that will determine whether or not you achieve your goals.

Distractions will occur with frequent regularity when you rely solely on your primary senses - particularly what you see and hear. Many of you will look at your current circumstances and even what you have achieved in the past and think that this is all that can be.

"Your past is not your potential. In any hour you can choose to liberate the future."
Marilyn Ferguson

You will rely on physical evidence to support what you think you can achieve forgetting that all creation starts first in the mind.

"The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created - created first in the mind."
Deborah James

You will allow yourself to be swayed by the naysayers - those who believe that you can't accomplish what you have set out to do. Know that it their own inadequacies they fear most.

"Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice but to believe with you."
Cynthia Kersey

But worse still you will allow your best efforts to be sabotaged by your own negative self-talk. An affirmation can be positive or negative. What you repeatedly say to yourself will manifest.

"If you had a friend who talked to you like you sometimes talk to yourself, would you continue to hang around with that person?"
Rob Bremer

You will forget that you are a spiritual being having a physical experience. Instead, you will behave like physical being with a spirit and, in so doing, impose self-made limitations on yourself. Your true spirit knows no limits.

To expand your awareness you have to develop more than just your senses. You have to develop your intellectual faculties as well: perception, reason, will, memory, imagination and intuition if you are to find our way efficiently and effectively so that you not only stay on course but also achieve your ultimate goal.

And to achieve your ultimate goal you will need to make the ultimate sacrifice. Are you ready? Are you ready to sacrifice what you are for what you can become?
