Growing

You've probably had a similar experience where you discover an item of food that has become 'lost' in the refrigerator. Well, the other day I found part of an onion – a quarter to be exact and it was growing. A slender green shoot was growing from the centre of this mutilated onion and for some reason it reminded me of a quote taken from The Dore Lectures by Thomas Troward:

"My mind is a centre of Divine operation. The Divine operation is always for expansion and fuller expression, and this means the production of something beyond what has gone before, something entirely new, not included in the past experience, though proceeding out of it by an orderly sequence of growth. Therefore, since the Divine cannot change its inherent nature, it must operate in the same manner with me; consequently, in my own special world, of which I am the centre, it will move forward to produce new conditions, always in advance of any that have gone before."

You see, this onion had been peeled, quartered, wrapped in cling film, placed in an inhospitable environment and still it grew. I thought to myself, "If a humble onion can do that then we are certainly capable of rising above life's so-called adversities."

As the saying goes you are either growing or dying, creating or disintegrating.
