Stop! Don't Give Up on Saying Daily Positive Affirmations Yet!

People often complain that saying daily positive affirmations just doesn't work and there are many reasons why this may be the case. In this post, I'm going to discuss just one key reason why this practice is not working for you.

You are not being consistent.

Positive affirmations can be used as part of your neural re-programming to replace limiting beliefs that lie deep in your sub-conscious mind. There are two key times of day which are ideal to the practicing of positive affirmations and these are first thing in the morning when you awake and last thing at night before you go to sleep. These are the times when your sub-conscious mind is naturally most conducive to receiving your positive affirmations.

The limiting and negative beliefs that lie in your sub-conscious mind were, in many cases, programmed into you from childhood. In other words, they are deeply embedded into your sub-conscious mind and it will take time to dislodge them and replace them.

The limiting beliefs in your sub-conscious mind lead to your negative habits - the self-sabotaging actions that you repeatedly and seemingly unconsciously carry out despite your best intentions. And this is because for 95-98% of the time your sub-conscious mind is in control.

So practicing positive affirmations leads to the installation of new empowering beliefs which lead to new empowering habits. There's just one catch though. Just one? Well there're others as well but l did say I was going to limit this discussion to one reason why you are not achieving success in this area.

You see for positive affirmations to work you first have to create a new habit of consistently practicing your daily positive affirmations.

Zig Ziglar said that:

"Motivation doesn't last, but neither does taking a bath. That's why we recommend it daily."

And you know what happens if you don't maintain your hygiene practices - you become rather smelly.

If you don't consistently practice your positive affirmations you may not smell but your life may start to "stink" - quoting the "technical term" as used by James Arthur Ray.

Scientists have proven that to instil a new habit you need to practice it consistently for 30 days. In some cases the process can be faster but the average is 30 days. If you start practicing a new habit and then stop after a few days, guess what? When you start again it will be like starting from ground zero.

Claude M. Bristol said:

"It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen."

Yes, marvellous things start to happen. Your life will start to click into place and isn't that worth whatever sacrifices you may need to make in order to develop a new habit of saying your daily positive affirmations.
