Are You Going After Your Pension or Your Passion

A large percentage of the population are working towards a pension. It is scary and not just from an economic perspective. These individuals obsess over paltry handouts that they will receive from the government or their employer. They count down the years, months and days to that glorious day when they can lay down their tools and do some of the things they have been looking forward to doing once they retire. They put off fully enjoying life until retirement as if they have some secret life contract and they know exactly how long they are going to live.

"If we are ever to enjoy life, now is the time, not tomorrow or next year. Today should always be our most wonderful day."
Thomas Dreier

Now some people officially retire but they still work because they just love what they do. They are living their dream. They are following their passion.

Take marketing guru Ted Nicholas. He doesn't need to work but he just loves what he does. Plus he gives so much value that his seminars are among the most expensive on the market. The funny thing is that he would do them for free but they wouldn't be valued as much.

Then there are those who have no intention of retiring like Bob Proctor. He too loves what he does and is even more enthusiastic about his work now than when he started. His work is his passion.

There's another interesting fact about individuals who go after their passion. They tend to remain ever youthful. They are full of energy and vitality and put many a younger person to shame.

They certainly do not put off enjoying life. Everyday is a great adventure and they often are some of the most adventurous people alive. Mark Victor Hansen, co-author of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series and "Cracking the Millionaire Code" along with Robert Allen author of "Nothing Down" and "Multiple Streams of Income" have both climbed Mount Kilimanjaro; the maverick, daredevil, real estate entrepreneur Frank McKinney has twice completed Bridgwater an ultramarathon event through Death Valley and best selling audio and video author on subjects including sales, business and entrepreneurship, Brian Tracy has crossed the Sahara.

So the question remains? Are you going after your pension or your passion? If your answer is the former - good luck. If your answer is the latter and you love every minute of your challenging, yet exciting life - congratulations! For those of you who are somewhat middle of the road, maybe you're in a job and are afraid to follow your passion remember that:

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear."
Ambrose Redmoon

You don't have a contract to live forever. Do what you have to do to be the person you should be.

Many people say that they don't know what they want, that they don't know what their passion is. What is usually the case is that these individuals are simply too afraid to even admit what their passion is, what truly fills them with joy. Often, the reason behind this fear is that they don't believe that they can live their passion and live the life of their dreams. Do you fall into this category?

Maybe you fear ridicule from your peers if you express what is in your heart about what you want to achieve in life. Then know this:

"The only opinion about your dream that really counts is yours. The negative comments of others merely reflect their limitations - not yours."
Cynthia Kersey, Author of Unstoppable

Perhaps you fear that you will not succeed in your quest, that what you desire is too great. Then know this:

"The Universe, God, only supports you in your greatness."

Perhaps you don't know how to achieve what you want and you can already see obstacles looming ahead. Then know this - you don't have to know how the way, simply hold fast to your intention and take the first step towards following your passion:

"Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls."
Joseph Campbell

Your life was meant to be a magnificent adventure. Where will you be in five years time if you do not make any changes to your life? Is this where you want to be?

Don't carry your dreams to your grave. Start today to live the life of your dreams. Follow your passion.
