What is Keeping You From Achieving Your Goals?

Here’s a simple exercise. Take a plain and blank sheet of paper. On one side of it write the header “My Goals” or “My Vivid Vision Statement”.

If you’ve written “My Goals” then make a list of all the things you want both large and small. Don’t worry about how you will achieve your goals simply commit them to paper. If you reach the end of your sheet of paper then grab another sheet and continue writing.

If you are writing your Vivid Vision Statement, a phrase I first heard used by Robert Allen*, then describe, in as much detail as possible, a day in your ideal life.

What would you be doing?
Who would you be spending your time with?
Where would you be living?
What type of work would you be doing or not?
How would you be spending your leisure time?

Be thorough. Write in the present tense and use all your senses to describe your ideal life so that your vivid vision really comes alive. See what you would you be seeing, hear what you would hear if you were living your ideal lifestyle and feel what you would feel.

Do you have a vivid image or impression of your ideal home, luxury holiday or car (or both) and loving relationship? etc. Now turn the piece of paper you’ve been writing on over.

That represents what you will receive when you let FEAR stand in your way.

“Everything you ever wanted is on the other side of fear.”
George Addair
